Hemerocallis, more commonly know as the Daylily, are a genus of highly diverse cultivars. Which means there's loads of different colours, heights and shapes of daylily to choose from.

As the Daylily name suggests the flowers last for only one day, blooming in the morning and dying off in the evening however the plants should produce a succesion of flowers to provide colour throughout the flowering season. In general the more sun the plant gets the more flowers it'll produce. It'll grow in Full Shade but factor in less blooms.
It's a popular plant because it's not really a fussy plant so it'll grow in most soils and will take some abuse.

Spring bulbs make good companion plants for daylilies as the emerging foliage of the daylily covers the spring bulbs foliage once they're done flowering.
